The BMW 320d is the diesel automatic variant of the 3 Series sedan, aimed at buyers who want a proper European driving experience without the fuel costs of a petrol engine. The 2.0L diesel produces strong low-end torque, so it pulls well in city traffic without needing to rev hard. The automatic gearbox is smooth and well-matched to the engine character, making daily commuting relaxed rather than sporty. Real-world mileage in Pakistani city conditions tends to be noticeably better than comparable petrol sedans of this size.
Owning a 320d in Pakistan means you are working with a relatively niche platform. Authorised service is available in major cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, but independent mechanics familiar with BMW diesel systems are fewer than with Japanese brands. Parts can be sourced but cost more and may need to be imported. Common service items to watch on older units include the diesel injectors, EGR valve, and timing chain tensioner. Resale is slower than Japanese alternatives, and the buyer pool is smaller, which affects liquidity.
