The Hyundai Ioniq 1.6 PHEV is a plug-in hybrid hatchback built around a 1.6-litre petrol engine paired with an 8.9 kWh battery and a dual-clutch transmission. The electric-only range sits around 47 km, which covers a typical Karachi or Lahore daily commute without touching the petrol engine at all. The DCT shifts smoothly in hybrid mode, though at very low crawling speeds in heavy traffic it can feel slightly hesitant — a known trait of dual-clutch setups. Fuel consumption in blended driving is genuinely low if you charge regularly.
In Pakistan, the Ioniq PHEV is a grey import and not officially sold here, so parts sourcing requires specialist importers or online ordering. Local mechanics familiar with hybrid systems are available mainly in larger cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Resale is limited to a niche buyer pool, which means liquidity is lower than mainstream Japanese hybrids. Battery health and charging history are important checks when buying used.
