The Hyundai Kona 1.6T GDI is the turbocharged variant of Kona's crossover lineup, aimed at buyers who want a compact SUV with noticeably more punch than a typical 1.3 or 1.5 naturally aspirated engine. The 1.6-litre turbocharged GDI unit produces strong mid-range pull, making highway overtaking and city merges feel effortless. The 7-speed DCT handles shifts quickly in normal driving, though in stop-and-go Karachi or Lahore traffic it can feel slightly hesitant at very low speeds — a known trait of dual-clutch gearboxes.
The Kona is not as widely distributed in Pakistan as Toyota or Honda products, which means local mechanic familiarity is limited mostly to authorised Hyundai service centres in major cities. Turbo GDI engines require quality fuel and regular oil changes to stay healthy — skipping service intervals can affect the direct injection system over time. Resale is reasonable in urban markets but narrower than mainstream Japanese options, so expect a smaller buyer pool when selling.
