The Kia Niro 1.6 PHEV is a plug-in hybrid crossover built around a 1.6-litre petrol engine paired with an 11.1 kWh battery pack and a dual-clutch transmission. The electric-only range of around 65 km means most daily commutes in Lahore, Karachi, or Islamabad can run on battery alone if you charge overnight. The DCT shifts smoothly in normal driving, though like most dual-clutch setups it can feel slightly hesitant at very low crawling speeds in heavy traffic.

In the Pakistani context, PHEVs are still a relatively new category, so finding a mechanic fully familiar with the hybrid system outside major cities takes effort. Authorised service is the safer route for anything beyond basic maintenance. Parts for the petrol side are more accessible than the high-voltage battery components. Resale is still finding its footing in Pakistan as PHEV awareness grows, so expect a smaller buyer pool compared to conventional crossovers.
