The Mitsubishi Pajero is a body-on-frame SUV that has been a fixture in Pakistan for decades, particularly among buyers who need genuine off-road capability alongside daily usability. The lineup spans diesel and petrol options: the 2.8D and 3.2D are turbodiesel engines suited to long highway runs and rural terrain, while the 3.0 and 3.8 petrol variants are smoother but thirstier. In city traffic expect 6-9 km/l from the diesels and somewhat less from the larger petrols. The Super Select 4WD system is a real differentiator — it allows part-time and full-time 4WD use on tarmac, which most competitors do not offer.

Pajero parts are reasonably available in Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar, and local mechanics familiar with the platform are not hard to find. Older units — especially pre-2010 examples — will likely need attention to suspension bushings, automatic transmission fluid, and AC systems. Timing belts on the diesel variants are a known service item to verify. Resale holds reasonably well for a full-size SUV, especially diesel trims, though it trails Toyota Land Cruiser in that regard.

The Pajero suits buyers who genuinely use off-road or semi-urban rough terrain, or those covering long inter-city distances where the diesel's torque and fuel economy make sense. The honest limitation is running cost — fuel, tyres, and parts are not cheap, so purely city-based buyers may find it hard to justify over a smaller SUV.
