Aqua 1.5 Hybrid

The Toyota Aqua 1.5 Hybrid is a compact hatchback built around a 1.5L petrol engine paired with a small 0.9 kWh nickel-metal hydride battery pack and a CVT. It sits in the same space as a Yaris or Vitz but delivers noticeably better fuel economy, typically in the 18-22 km/l range in mixed Pakistani city and highway driving. The CVT feels smooth in stop-and-go traffic, and the electric motor fills in low-speed torque well, making it relaxed to drive in congested urban conditions.

The Aqua has been a common import in Pakistan for several years, so mechanics in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad are reasonably familiar with the hybrid system. The 0.9 kWh battery is a smaller pack, which means less range on electric-only mode but also less risk of expensive battery degradation compared to larger hybrid systems. Hybrid battery health is the main thing to check on older units. Resale value holds well because fuel savings remain a strong selling point in the used-car market.
