The Toyota Prius comes in two variants for the Pakistani market: the base 1.8 Hybrid and the slightly better-equipped S 1.8. Both use the same 1.8-litre petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain paired with a CVT-style e-CVT transmission. In city traffic, the hybrid system does its best work — regenerative braking and electric-assist combine to deliver notably better fuel economy than a conventional 1.8-litre petrol car. The e-CVT feels smooth and relaxed in stop-and-go conditions, though it is not a sporty drive by any measure.

The Prius has been imported into Pakistan in significant numbers, so mechanics in major cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad are reasonably familiar with the hybrid system. Hybrid battery health is the main concern on older units — a degraded battery pack noticeably reduces fuel savings and can be expensive to replace or recondition. Genuine parts availability is decent through authorised dealers, and aftermarket support has grown. Resale value tends to hold reasonably well given the fuel economy appeal.

The S variant adds minor convenience features over the base trim. The honest limitation is that hybrid battery replacement cost can be a significant expense on higher-mileage examples. This car suits a city commuter who prioritises running costs over driving engagement.
