JMEV EV3 Launched in Pakistan — The Most Affordable Electric Hatchback Is Here
Pakistan's electric vehicle market just got a lot more interesting. Capital Smart Motors officially launched the JMEV EV3 on March 27, 2026 — a fully electric sub-compact hatchback that opens at just Rs. 4,899,999. That makes it the most affordable proper electric car available in Pakistan today, and it arrives at a time when petrol prices have hit Rs. 266.17 per litre with no signs of slowing down.

What Is the JMEV EV3?
The EV3 is a 5-door, 5-seat electric hatchback from JMEV, distributed in Pakistan by Capital Smart Motors — the same company behind the JMEV Elight sedan that launched in September 2025. It is built around a 30 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery and produces 67 HP with 125 Nm of torque, positioning it squarely as a city commuter rather than a highway cruiser.
The design language is confident for its price point. JMEV describes the body as inspired by "the dynamics of a cheetah and the fluidity of a shark's dorsal fin" — which in practical terms means a smooth aerodynamic profile, flush door handles, and a wide stance for a car of its size. The trunk opens to a generous 135° angle and the boot expands to 1,000 litres with the rear seats folded, which is genuinely impressive for a sub-compact.

How Does It Compare to Other EVs in Pakistan?
The EV3 doesn't just compete — it undercuts everything else in the Pakistani EV market by a significant margin. Here is how it stacks up against the most relevant electric cars currently available locally.
JMEV EV3 | JMEV Elight | BYD Dolphin | MG ZS EV | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Type | Hatchback | Sedan | Hatchback | SUV |
Price (from) | Rs. 4.9M | Rs. 8.5M | Rs. 9.2M | Rs. 10.5M |

Distributor | Capital Smart Motors | Capital Smart Motors | Mega Motor Company | MG Motors Pakistan |
The EV3 is Rs. 4.3M cheaper than the BYD Dolphin and Rs. 5.6M cheaper than the MG ZS EV. That gap is enormous. Yes, the range is shorter and the power output is modest — but for buyers whose primary use case is city driving in Lahore, Karachi, or Islamabad, 271 km of WLTP range is more than adequate for several days of normal use between charges.
The Case For and Against
Reasons to consider the EV3:
The most affordable entry point into proper EV ownership in Pakistan
LFP battery chemistry is safer, longer-lasting, and more tolerant of full charges than NMC alternatives
271 km WLTP range is enough for city use with overnight home charging
Running costs a fraction of petrol alternatives, especially with fuel at Rs. 266.17/litre
Backed by Capital Smart Motors, which already has the Elight in the market
Things to be aware of:
Range is limited for long intercity trips — this is not a Lahore-to-Karachi car
Full variant spec breakdown not yet published — wait for official spec sheet before booking
First deliveries only in July 2026, so there are no real-world owner reviews yet from Pakistan
DC fast charging infrastructure in Pakistan is still developing outside major cities
The Bigger Picture
The EV3's launch is significant beyond just the price tag. For the first time, a new electric hatchback is available in Pakistan under the Rs. 5M mark — a psychological barrier that has kept mass EV adoption out of reach for most buyers. At this price, the EV3 competes directly with mid-range petrol cars like the Suzuki Cultus and Honda City, not just other EVs.
If CSM can deliver on build quality and after-sales support — both critical unknowns at this stage — the EV3 could genuinely shift how Pakistanis think about electric cars.
