The range spans three petrol variants: the entry sDrive18i with a 1.5L three-cylinder, the mid sDrive20i with a 2.0L four-cylinder, and the performance-oriented M35i xDrive with a 2.0L turbocharged unit pushing around 300hp through all-wheel drive. In city traffic the sDrive18i and 20i return reasonable mileage for their class, while the M35i trades efficiency for a noticeably quicker throttle response and firmer ride. The 8-speed automatic across the range is smooth in normal driving but responds well when pushed.

In Pakistan the X2 is a grey or parallel import in most cases, which means parts sourcing runs through specialist importers in Lahore and Karachi rather than an authorised dealer network. Local mechanics familiar with BMW platforms can handle routine service, but anything beyond that typically needs a specialist. The M35i in particular has a more complex AWD and engine setup that raises service costs. Resale is limited to a niche buyer pool, so liquidity is lower than Japanese alternatives.

The X2 suits a buyer who prioritises driving dynamics and a distinctive roofline over practicality. Boot space is tighter than the X1 due to the sloping rear. If you want a BMW crossover primarily for daily commuting and resale ease, the X1 is more practical. The X2 makes more sense for someone who genuinely enjoys the drive and can absorb higher ownership costs.
