The Daihatsu Taft is a compact kei SUV built around a 660cc engine, offered in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms across G and X trim levels. The X trim is the entry point, while G adds more comfort and feature content. In Pakistani city traffic, the naturally aspirated version will feel adequate for flat urban roads but may struggle on inclines or highways, whereas the turbo variants deliver noticeably more usable pull and are better suited for mixed driving. The CVT or automatic transmission typical of kei vehicles keeps daily driving relaxed, though fuel returns will depend heavily on how hard the turbo is pushed.

As a relatively niche Japanese kei SUV, the Taft is not yet a mainstream name in Pakistan. Parts availability through grey import channels exists but is not as straightforward as Toyota or Suzuki platforms. Local mechanics familiar with kei drivetrains can handle basics, but specialist work may require Lahore or Karachi dealers. Resale history is limited given the model is newer to the market, so expect some price uncertainty when selling.

The Taft suits a buyer who wants a compact, easy-to-park urban SUV with a rugged look and reasonable ground clearance. The turbo G variant offers the best balance of features and performance. The honest limitation is parts sourcing — budget extra time and cost for anything beyond routine servicing.
