Changan UNI-V

The Changan UNI-V is a sporty-looking sedan aimed at younger Pakistani buyers who want something different from the usual Corolla or Civic crowd. The 1.5T DCT runs a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a dual-clutch automatic, giving it a peppy, responsive feel especially at mid-range RPMs. The IDD Hybrid variant adds a plug-in hybrid system to the same engine, which can meaningfully cut fuel costs in stop-and-go Lahore or Karachi traffic. Expect city mileage in the 12-15 km/l range for the DCT and noticeably better figures from the hybrid depending on how often you can charge it.

Changan has been expanding its dealer and parts network in Pakistan, but it is still not as widespread as Toyota or Honda. Mechanics outside major cities may be less familiar with the DCT gearbox, so servicing is best done at authorised centres. As a relatively new platform in Pakistan, long-term resale data is still forming, though the UNI-V has attracted solid interest in urban markets.

The UNI-V suits a city-based buyer who prioritises a distinctive look and a turbocharged driving feel over the predictability of Japanese alternatives. The honest limitation is after-sales support outside major cities, which is worth factoring in if you are not based in Karachi, Lahore, or Islamabad.
